Shred-Fest, Mulch Giveaway, and Recycle Event on Nov. 5th

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – All High Desert residents are invited to attend the last Shred Fest and Mulch Giveaway of the year at the Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Victor Valley MRF is located at 17000 Abbey Lane in Victorville, just off of Stoddard Wells Road.

The following activities are FREE and open to all residents of the High Desert.

Free Shred-Fest: Residents can bring up to four bankers boxes of confidential paper documents to be shredded for free. All Purpose Document Destruction will have a truck on site, so residents can watch their documents get shredded. No business materials will be accepted.

Free Mulch and Compost Giveaway: Area residents can load up to 50 gallons of free mulch during the event. This is a “self-serve” giveaway, so residents will need to bring their own shovels and containers to load and transport the mulch home.

Free Disposal of Mattresses, Boxsprings, TVs, Computers, Appliances, Scrap Metal, Cardboard, and Clothing: Area residents can bring TVs, computers, scrap metal, and appliances to drop-off for free at the MRF’s “RECYCLE ALLEY” recycling drop off area. The MRF will also accept twin, full, queen, and king-sized mattresses and boxsprings. Residents can also drop-off cardboard; mixed paper; and clean, dry clothing, textiles, and shoes.

MRF Open House and Tour: Residents can view the Victor Valley MRF’s processing equipment and see where approximately 100 tons-per-day of commingled recyclables from Apple Valley and Victorville are processed.

Free Reusable Grocery Bag Giveaway: The first 200 visitors will receive a free, reusable shopping bag.

In addition, residents can also visit the MRF’s buy back center and redeem their separated CRV bottles and cans for cash.
