Lancaster Church Volunteer Youth Group Leader Sentenced for Sexual Misconduct with Teens

LANCASTER-(  A Lancaster man who volunteered to run a church youth group and owned a private investigator business was sentenced to over 8 years in state prison on Thursday. The man identified as 35-year-old Richard Michael Kelso was convicted by a jury on November 3, 2015.

In June and July 2013 Kelso, who volunteered to run youth groups at Sacred Heart Catholic Church directed a 15-year-old boy from one of his confirmation groups to perform sexual acts with his stepdaughter. Kelso then participated in these acts according to court testimony.

Kelso was sentenced to 8 years and 4 months for the three counts of contact with a minor for sexual offense, two counts of lewd act upon a child and one count of inducing a child to engage in a lewd act. He must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and is ordered to stay away from the victim for 10 years.
