(Staff Reports): Hesperia, California –Healthy Hesperia, through its Fitness in the Park program, is proud to announce the grand opening of the QR Fit Trail at the Hesperia Civic Plaza Park on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 9am. The Fitness in the Park program is a Healthy Hesperia initiative designed to bring exercise opportunities to the parks to support healthy lifestyles in the community.
QR Code Fit Trail uses technology to supplement and support a personal physical fitness program. Users can access a thorough workout from the convenience of their smart phones. The fit trail is comprised of a series of six signs. These signs display QR codes that access a series of short workout routines targets the body core, both the lower and upper body, and improving flexibility. Each station takes about five minutes to complete, depending on the user’s motivation and ability. At the end of the trail a user will have completed about 30 minutes of guided exercise routines. Body weight provides the perfect resistance, so no equipment is needed – other than the user’s smartphone.
The City of Hesperia and Healthy Hesperia received funding from St Joseph Health, St Mary, through a grant from the California Endowment to install the outdoor exercise stations. The award is used to promote walkability, street safety and exercise for healthier communities. With the installation of the QR Fit Trail, Hesperia will be the first in the Inland Empire to embrace this new innovative fitness trail system. The City of Hesperia partners with local agencies in support of the Healthy Hesperia program, including the Hesperia Recreation and Park District, Hesperia Unified School District and County of San Bernardino.
Community members are encouraged to join us for this Healthy Hesperia first. The Hesperia Civic Plaza Park is located at 15833 Smoke Tree Street, Hesperia.
