CHP Plans to Step Up 215 Freeway Traffic Enforcement

SAN BERNARDINO-(  While Motorcycle Safety Awareness month is coming to an end, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced on Thursday that they will be stepping up enforcement for motorcyclists and other drivers.

Additional officers will be on the I-215 and will be watching for those driving an unsafe speed, following too closely, making unsafe lane changes, and turning improperly.

The CHP San Bernardino area data showed that from January 2014 to December 2014, 98 were injured in motorcycle-involved collisions and seven were killed in collisions involving motorcycles in the San Bernardino CHP Area boundary.

This operation is funded by a grant titled, “Have a Good Ride II” will begin on May 28th and end September 30.  The funding was provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
